Committee Challenges & Opportunities

Entering a period of unprecedented residential and employment growth, quality of life will play an increasingly important role.  Balancing growth and conservation is quality growth and is a key ingredient to sustainability.

Plan for preservation of natural land and habitat as Greater West Houston expands to accommodate single and multi-family demands

Expand and enhance the nation’s largest urban park system – covering over 28,000 acres

Capitalize on opportunities to identify and preserve other large parcels of green space in perpetuity, enhancing the quality of life and the overall attractiveness for the entire region.

Begin preliminary efforts to explore conserving large, heavily wooded tracts of land in Waller County
