Latest I-10 Lane Closures / Construction Updates (Link)

Let to contract for $250 million, the intersection of I-10 with BW 8 will be the second most expensive interchange in the Katy Freeway reconstruction program. 

This interchange is one of the most critical urban freeway interchanges in the country and the construction phasing will be critical.  The current direct connects between the two freeways will have to be completely rebuilt.  This necessitates careful scheduling.  TxDOT will augment this contract with a series of incentives and disincentives designed to speed construction.  These are similar to those on existing projects on Loop 610 and other projects on I-10.

Beltway 8 @ I-10 Westbound Main Lanes & Frontage Road Changed

Alternate lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound between GESSNER and KIRKWOOD and the corresponding entrance and exit ramps will be closed beginning 9 PM, Friday, July 29 until 5 AM, Monday, August 1. (The Beltway 8 northbound and southbound to I-10 westbound direct connector ramps will remain open during this time).

The inside lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY frontage road between BELTWAY 8 and GESSNER, plus the I-10 eastbound entrance and exit ramps just before GESSNER, will be closed from 9 PM, Friday, July 29 until 5 AM, Saturday, July 30.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 8, 2005, I-10 WEST AT BW 8-- ALL TRAFFIC WEST BOUND ON THE FRONTAGE ROADS WEST OF GESSNER TO KIRKWOOD WILL BE DIVERTED TO OLD KATY ROAD WHICH WILL BE CHANGE TO A ONE-WAY WESTBOUND FROM ITS CURRENT TWO CONFIGURATION.  SEE THE DIAGRAM BELOW
