Committee Challenges & Opportunities
By 2050, portions of Greater West Houston's
infrastructure will approach eighty to ninety years old.
Fully 20% of the residential communities of the area were built
in the 1970s. Infrastructure built over the next 15 years
will require rehabilitation by mid-century.
Startling for a "new
suburban" area that began life a few decades ago but a stark
reality.
Maintaining facilities
is a first requirement. Over time, resources will have to
be devoted to rebuilding. Data about all phases of our
infrastructure is critical in order to make the best decisions
about this important but often forgotten function. |
