WHA Appoints Two New Board Members; Elevates Boone to Executive Committee

At its February 28th Board Meeting, the West Houston Association appointed two new members to its board: Carolyn Wolff Dorros, Executive Vice President at Wolff Companies, and Zachary R. Hodges, President at Houston Community College-Northwest. The board members at WHA provide leadership to carry out the WHA’s vision of continuously improving the quality of development, infrastructure, and life in Greater West Houston.  The board also appointed to Jim Boone to its executive committee, which meets in months that WHA’s board does not meet.  The Executive Committee provides guidance and leadership on WHA’s activities.

Carolyn Wolff Dorros joined Wolff Companies in 2006 and is currently serving as the Executive Vice President.  Dorros oversees and manages the company’s financial asset portfolios, strategic planning, marketing, and communications. Ms. Dorros serves as Chair of the Advisory Council of Breakthrough Houston and on the Boards of St. John’s School, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership, and New Hope Housing, as well as, the Leadership Cabinet of Texas Children’s Hospital and President’s Leadership Council of Houston Methodist Hospital.  She is also on the Board of the Wolff Family Foundation.  After graduating from Dartmouth College, Ms. Dorros earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.  She served as the Administrative Director of Neurosciences and Director of Business Development at Stanford Medical Center before returning to Houston.

Dr. Zachary R. Hodges has more than 40 years of service in the field of higher education and has served 20 years as president for the Houston Community College’s Northwest region. Dr. Hodges is known for his proven leadership and accomplishments to improve the higher education system through innovate approaches and programs. Dr. Hodges has also received the International Pioneer Award from the World Chamber of Commerce of Texas for creating international networks and having a global mindset to attract international students to Houston. Dr. Hodges has served or currently serves on various local boards and committees including the Houston West Chamber of Commerce, Memorial City TIRZ, Katy Medical Center, Katy ARTreach, American Leadership Forum, United Way’s Management Assistance, Partners in Education and Career and Technology for the Katy and Spring Branch School Districts, Chairman of the Mustang District of the Boy Scouts of America, P-16 Council of West Houston and the West Houston Medical Center boards.

Jim Boone is the Managing Partner at Allen Boone Humphries & Robinson and has served on the West Houston Associaton Board of Directors since January 2013.  He assists a broad range of developers on many complex, master planned community projects located in the greater Houston area, including the City of Houston, Pearland, League City, Alvin, Manvel, Richmond, Rosenberg, Texas City, Iowa Colony, and Katy.  Mr. Boone also is extensively involved in business development for the Firm.  He serves on the steering committee of the WHA Rising Leaders Program and is active in WHA’s programming and initiatives.
