Rising Leaders Breakfast with Representative Jim Murphy

Representative Jim Murphy spoke to WHA’s Rising Leaders on Tuesday, April 3rd, over breakfast. Murphy discussed how Hurricane Harvey impacted this area and highlighted the role the special districts play in the recovery process. He urged our Rising Leaders to talk to their representatives now instead of waiting until session begins.

Reaching out now will allow our representatives more time to learn about the issues the community wants them to address and better equip them to advocate for constructive policy. WHA was honored to have Representative Murphy join us for breakfast and appreciated him taking the time to answer our individual questions. As a past employee of WHA, our group considers Murphy one of our original Rising Leaders and is proud to have him as a community leader. After breakfast our Rising Leaders broke off into groups to discuss their class projects. As alumni, Class 1 discussed how to stay connected and work together as their time in the Rising Leader Program comes to a close. Class 2 regrouped and discussed their next steps while Class 3 got to know each other and brainstormed ideas as they begin the two year program. WHA is excited to have so many influential individuals at the forefront of their industry be a part of the Rising Leaders Program. We look forward to what they will accomplish for this region.
