TAG: A Grand Vote for Tolls

Original Copy By: Andrea French

Moments ago the Texas Transportation Commission voted to keep segments B-C and projects associated with Segment D of the Grand Parkway in the 10-year Unified Transportation Program (UTP). These segments are essential as an evacuation route and will provide a critical corridor for citizen’s daily use.

While there has been opposition to tolling as a tool for funding needed infrastructure around the state, today’s vote signifies a commitment to encourage solutions to congestion problems plaguing all parts of our great state by keeping all the funding tools in the toolbox.

TAG applauds the work of the Commission and leaders from Galveston, Brazoria and Fort Bend Counties who have united to represent the needs of our region’s connectivity and economic development. With over 600 comments received from the Houston region, the Commission acknowledged we broke historical records in showing our support for saving these segments of the Grand Parkway.

We look forward to continued advocacy for ALL modes and ALL tools that support the massive infrastructure needs of our ever expanding region.
