The West Houston Association Turns 40!

Over the last 40 years, the West Houston Association has had a vision of bringing Quality Growth to Greater West Houston region. With the help of our vast membership and dedicated leaders, the Association has been able to achieve meaningful progress. The 40th Anniversary Reception was held September 5th, 2019 at the Westin – Memorial City as a mixer. The audience was not only membership but elected & public officials so we could all celebrate our shared accomplishments.

The 40th Anniversary event also featured the debut of the latest installment of Economic & Demographic reports, a compilation of data ranging from existing land use maps, employment and population breakdowns by decade, comparisons of jobs by sector, demographic & education characteristics and much more.  The Association first published its Economic and Demographic Report in 2011 with data from CDS Market Research. The data quantified the growth both past and future, within the 1000 sq. miles of Greater West Houston. When the Association was founded in 1979, the population in Greater West Houston was just above 200,000. As of 2019, Greater West Houston’s population is 1.8 million, accounting for 26.2% of the regional total.
