Rising Leaders TopGolf Tournament Fundraiser Was a Success

The West Houston Association’s Rising Leader Class 4 hosted a TopGolf Tournament fundraiser on May 27th from 2p-6p at the Katy location. The event had 26 sponsors and over 200 attendees. The title sponsor being LJA Engineering Inc.

The event began with registration and free play. After receiving tournament rules and instructions, the competition began. During the event, attendees had the opportunity to network over cocktails, bid in a silent auction, and purchase raffle tickets. Winners were announced at the closing ceremony.

Team tournament champions included Allen Boone Humphries Robinson L.L.P. (1st place), The Howard Hughes Corporation (2nd place), and Jones|Carter Engineering (3rd place). The Longest Drive winner was Daniel Gutierrez playing on behalf of EHRA.

WHA Vice Chair Marlene Gafrick liked that the event was welcoming to all skill levels and provided an opportunity to network. “It was great to see so many organizations participating and supporting the West Houston Association”.

The WHA Rising Leaders Program provides an accelerated introduction to the topics and issues of interest to the association and its members. Each year, WHA and key partners will host informational classes and events for WHA’s Rising Leaders, who in turn work together on a class project. Class 4’s project of a Top Golf Fundraiser was initially delayed due to COVID, but turned out to be a great success. Lona Shipp, a member of Class 4 from Howard Hughes Corporation describes working with her classmates to organize the event as “a very rewarding experience”.
