President’s Desk: March 2024

Howdy WHA Members!

Happy Rodeo Season for some, spring break for others, and primary season for everyone. For some of you that means long days and nights enjoying the exhibits, rodeo activities, concerts and maybe even volunteering. For those in the area it also means increased traffic congestion! Still others of you may be getting out of town for spring break, relying on our mobility infrastructure to do so. While some of you may be out of the office, we still have quite a lot going on over here.

For all of you, here’s the outcome of the primaries. For many races in Texas, the general elections are not particularly close, so the real ability to impact the outcome is at the primary election level. Many of these eventual office holders will be the decision-makers on public investment in infrastructure. Spending that is critical to ensuring quality growth for our region.

Are you ready to make a difference in our region? Join a group of other experts and industry leaders who want to identify infrastructure and development challenges to address in the region. Join us on the 11th for our Government Affairs Committee, the 12th for our Sustainable Infrastructure Committee, the 18th for our Regional Mobility Committee, the 19th for our Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Committee, the 21st for our Quality Planned Development Committee, or the 21st for our Water Resources Committee. Learn more about what’s going on in the region and how you can help lead quality growth.

Please also join us on March 28th where we will be talking with Mayor John Whitmire about his first 100 days in office and his plan for the years ahead. What is he doing to show his leadership in quality growth? What are his thoughts on infrastructure? What spending is he prioritizing? Learn about this and more later this month!

Then on May 23rd we will have our Rising Leaders’ Topgolf Tournament. This is a great event to show your support for WHA and expand your network of like-minded individuals at the same time. Last year we moved up the time so that it started with lunch and we are going that route again this year. Many of the sponsorship opportunities are already sold out so act fast if you want to be a part of the fun!

Thank you for your support of the West Houston Association and working to improve quality of life for the millions of people who live, work, and play across the region! See you at the Rodeo!
