Flood Control Forum – Public Resources

The West Houston Association hosted the fifth annual Flood Control Forum yesterday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Our presenters were Kathleen Jackson P.E. from the Texas Water Development Board and Russell “Russ” Poppe from the Harris County Flood Control District.

The event began with themed music – a creative audio playlist with water based themes. Event attendees were seen subtly rocking to Songs like Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and Feels Like Rain – Buddy Guy & Bonnie Raitt.

Tim Buscha P.E., president of IDS Engineering and Flood Control, Drainage & Wetland Committee Committee Chair of the West Houston Association, moderated the event. The speakers covered topics from flood projects; funding pursuits and implementation; bond program updates; and flood planning essentials. Due to the wealth of information provided in their presentations for the benefit of the public, a downloadable copy of the presentation is attached below.
