Public and Elected Officials Reception coincides with release of the 2022 Economic and Demographic Profile

On September 8th, the West Houston Association held our Annual Public & Elected Officials Reception at the Hyatt Regency West Houston. WHA holds this annual event to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who serve the Greater West Houston region and to provide a means for members to get better acquainted with local public and elected officials.

Members gathered with community leaders to have informal discussions on improving quality of life across the greater West Houston region. Events like this allow for the building of relationships that we hope will lead to continued public-private partnerships for the benefit of the 2,000,000+ people who live, work, and play in West Houston.

The event also marks the public release of our 2022 Economic and Demographic Profile of Greater West Houston. The new 2022 Economic and Demographic Profile is updated with the best available data on population, jobs, and housing for the greater West Houston region to help us understand what’s happening with people, their careers, and where they live. This year we continue to look at trends from 1990 through today, we forecast out to 2060, and we expanded the report by adding a new section on lot availability so we can think about the future of housing. The profile can be downloaded from our website, or you can pick up a hard copy at future events or from our office.

There are so many people who have worked with WHA over the years to make our region one of the fastest growing and most desirable places in the country. We thank all of those who are involved with making that happen. In attendance on September 8th were Senator John Whitmire, Dean of the Texas Senate; Representative Lacey Hull, Texas House; Commissioner Tom Ramsey, Harris County Pct. 3; Commissioner Jack Cagle, Harris County Pct. 4; Tenisha Hudspeth, Harris County Clerk; Councilmember Letitia Plummer, City of Houston; Councilmember Mike Knox, City of Houston; Commissioner Vincent Morales, Fort Bend County Pct. 1; Mayor Joe Garcia, City of Pattinson; METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ram; and HPD Commander Reece Hardy.

Thank you to our sponsors, without whom this event would not be possible. Gold sponsors of the reception included Allen Boone Humphries Robinson, BGE Inc., and the Howard Hughes Corporation. Silver sponsors included EHRA Engineering, Inframark, Johnson Development Corp, LJA Engineering, and Walter P. Moore.
